Re: Help, I messed up big time at test center.

I wouldn't do anything. It doesn't matter what your reasons were. Even without internet someone could text you an answer. There are signs in the testing facility stating no cell phones, reminder on the exam and NCARB emails reminders. I would guess she was just scaring you with a warning, otherwise you likely wouldn't have been allowed to finish. Just don't do it again. I avoid any mishaps by leaving my cell in the car.

Test center lady comes out yells tells me to give her phone and she writes down brand. Tells me to turn off put back in locker. Said she is reporting to ncarb. I asked for copy of report after test and she refused. What are the consequences? I'm so scared I've stupidly jeoporadized everything. Do I call ncarb explain I don't even have internet on phone I was seeing if my ride called? Will I be barred from licensing?

They usually tell you to leave the cell phone in the car. The only thing you should be getting from your locker during the break is a snack. Don't call NCARB, if it was reported you can't do anything about it. Just wait a week for the results.

Don't be depressed. Mistakes happen. If I didn't leave my phone in the car I very well could forget too just out of habit.

Every test center is different. If they didn't say anything to you after you used your phone then probably not an issue. If you are reported, ncarb can do anything from nothing, to a reprimand, to failing that attempt without scoring it, to suspending your testing privileges.

It turns out fine, just a warning.
Thanks very much!

That was a close call. Mistakes can happen but you can see that the stakes are very high. Don't ever give anyone an excuse to screw you over.

Can you elaborate on the response from NCARB regarding your cell phone violation?
Same thing happened to me today.... inadvertently picked up phone and noticed messages when I was getting water from locker on the mandatory break and the lady said she was going to report it....FML
