Hi all.

What is the maximum moment (Mmax) for a Simple beam with uniformly distributed load AND concentrated load at the center?

What I thought is:
1. calculating the uniformly distributed load Mmax (WL/8 where W is Total load in kips(wxL), L is length ) 100x(10x12)² / 8 = 180,000
2. than calculating the concentrated load Mmax (PL/4 where P is the concentrated load ) 10x12x1500 /4 = 45,000
3. adding both together Mmax(1)+Mmax(2) 45,000 + 180,000 = 225,000 kip-in

Is that correct?

I don't know where you're getting "12" from.

Simple beam with uniform load : Mmax = WL²/8
Simple beam with point load mid span: Mmax = PL/4
