Reaction Upward Force

Reaction Upward Force

Hey All. This may be a straightforward question, but when calculating the upward force for say let's say a point load on a beam, do you work with feet when calculating this or need to convert the length to inches? See attach for an image.

Feet. However, there isn't a distance component to force. Distributed loads may be presented with units of distance (this will be feet) and moment will have a distance component, but this will always be in feet. The only part of this that may be required in inches would be deflection.
