positive, negative and just the idea of pressure

Postby architectco » Mon Jan 21, 2019 10:30 am

Hi,

It seems when ever "pressure" is brought up its never explained what it means or how it works in context. Sure its mentions that when a house or pipe or duct etc. is in negative pressure or positive pressure AB and C happens but that is too superficial.I need some kind explanation of what pressure is and whats happening in the first place. Please explain.

Thank you,

Maybe think about how a vacuum cleaner works. At the nozzle end, there's negative pressure because it's sucking air into the canister (and blowing filtered air out, which is positive pressure). It's the same thing with a fan or a fireplace or fluid in pipes, or wind on a building facade, etc..
