HVAC Systems as Percentage of Gross SF

I’ve seen a bunch of questions in practice tests relating to how much of the gross SF an HVAC system will occupy. I’m wondering where folks are finding these “rules of thumb” percentages. The 3%-9% is what keeps coming up in solutions but would like to find the text source for this.

Thanks!

Thanks,

I also found it in the Ballast 4.0 Building Systems book. It’s basically a lot of what’s in chap 17 of the 5.0 ballast material but literally the one little paragraph about approx system sizing is not in there.

Seems like 4.0 material still has a place for studying PPD...
