11A/11B vs ADA
Posted: Sat Oct 20, 2018 12:47 pmGoing through TWE study guide, there's quite a lot of emphasis on the fact that 11A/11B compliance is different than ADA compliance and that plan checkers don't check for full ADA compliance.
11A is unique to CA - developed by Department of Housing and Community Development.
11B however, is adopted from the 2010 ADA with CA revisions.
Question - If you go through plancheck and you're required to be 11A compliant, obviously you're not going to need to be ADA compliant (i.e. privately funded project). But if you're determined to be 11B compliant, aren't you essentially ADA compliant because 11B is based on the ADA?
Is DD just trying to drive the point home that 11A and ADA are completely different? Because as far as I've always understood, 11B and ADA compliance are one and the same...or am I missing something here?
