NEW CSE FORMAT COMING MARCH 1 2017?

Postby yilin1985 » Sun Nov 20, 2016 7:55 pm

Hi,

I believe there is new CSE testing format coming March 1st, 2017. I'm still waiting for my authorization to test from the testing agency. I'm sitting on the fence whether to wait till March to take it or take it before the switch. I believe the study material is different and will require different set of Whole Enchillada study purchase.

Is anyone else facing the same dilemma? What conclusions have you reached?

Thank you!

why wait and risk it? that's still 4.5 month away.

Start studying now. Schedule your exam for February once your paperwork goes through.

How do you know the format is changing? I just went to the CAB website and there is nothing about the format changing discussed there.

Hey all,

Im trying to schedule the next few months for Structures and the CSE because of this whole change coming March 1st. This gives me three months to pass Structures, register for CSE, and take the CSE by March 1st. Do you all think it is going to be a major difference between the older CSE and the new one? Three months is pretty tight.

That might be a little tight but not impossible depending on your schedule and how close you are to taking Structures. The preparation time for most people on the CSE is considerably longer than the ARE sections. The Whole Enchilada study plan is 1-2 hours a day 6 days a week for 12 weeks. Doucette announced he will be publishing a new guide on Jan 1st. There seems to be a bit of overlap on the content areas, but I haven't dug in. The new test has more statements.

It is going to be a lot of work with either route. Pick what keeps you motivated to move forward! Good luck on structures.

update: it took exactly 1 month from sending my AXP record to NCARB till the day I was able to schedule the CSE. I called NCARB and CAB so many times to try and get them to move the procedures a little faster. Not sure if that helped at all.
Anyways, Latest date I could get in San Francisco Bay Area was the 14th of February. Best of luck to y'all.

One thing for sure is the 2016 new bd codes.
That s enough for the change. I am not sure about the "format".
