become licensed in another state first?!

Postby zohrehst » Sat Jun 18, 2016 2:31 pm

Greetings!
I've passed my ARE's but can't study for another year or two. I am hoping to get licensed in another state until I can start the CSE in a few years.
Do you know which state would be the easiest one to get licensed in?
Thanks!

You might try skimming through here: http://www.ncarb.org/Reg-Board-Requirements. Most states don't require an extra exam, but some have residency requirements, interviews, things like that (which are all listed in the link). I would guess there's a fair amount of states which have no extra requirements and you could just fill out the paperwork and send a check. Keep in mind that if you get licensed in another state first you'll have to pay license fees for 2 states, along with an extra $400 for NCARB to transfer your record to CA for reciprocity since they only give you one free record transfer for your initial registration.

What's the point? If you live in California you still can't call yourself an architect.

I agree with coach. What's the point of getting licensed in another state if you still can't call yourself an architect in California?

My company offers a cash incentive for licensure.
I not going to do it, but it occurred to me for a hot minute to get the money sooner. ;)
