CSE STUDY GUIDES

CSE STUDY GUIDES

Postby coreys » Thu Jul 23, 2015 9:31 pm

Hello all. First I would like to thank Coach. I was a long time user of ARE forum and thank my ARE success to Coach and all the other forum members.

I just received my authorization to test for the CSE and I am looking for recommendations on study materials. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm starting week 6 of the whole enchilada and so far so good. He gives you a study plan that I will be using as a base and plan to supplement with old CDS material and references supplied by CAB. Depending on time constraints and confidence I will probably purchase the woo mock exams.

I test September 8th so who knows if I have the right strategy.

I'm using the same approach for studying - Whole Enchilada supplemented by CDS material, internet searches, and CAB references.

Is there a time limit on the whole enchilada after you purchase it?
Just waited for a slow period at work before I hit the books again.
Anyone use the Woo study guide, and if so when was the last time it was updated. I have an old copy at the office from 2011.

The whole enchilada doesn't have a time limit for the audio and PDF content. The quizzes have a time limit. Not sure how long. I haven't activated it yet... Point is, you can purchase the whole enchilada without having a time limit. You start quizzing when you are ready.

The Schiff Hardin Lectures are also a good free resource, especially the lectures on B101 (which is B102 and B201 combined) and A201. Hanahan goes more in depth with his explanations of these contracts than Doucette and gives a lot of real life examples.

I bought the Gang Chen book. Not sure about spending the money for the W.E. Is it really that good?

For what it's worth, I am studying from DD's Whole Enchilada, and I find a lot of the study material to be trite, and the practice exam questions are not very helpful. I know DD states that his questions are easier than the exam...why? I would expect that costly study material should be, at the very least, the same level of difficulty. He does a good job organizing the material, but I get the sense the W.E. won't prepare me for success on the actual exam. (Although, I can't be sure since I haven't sat for the exam yet.)

I am also using the Woo study guide and mock exams. There are definitely mistakes in his guide, but it seems to be more on point.

I find preparation for the CSE as frustrating as the AREs. So much time (and money) is spent finding and deciding what is the best study material to prepare for the exam.
