Hello,
i have done the practice vignette that NCARB provide online.
here are the heights i came up with based on the info given:

1st floor:
8'-4" clg
duct at section line: 24 x 16
Maximum duct on 1st floor: 32 x 24 ( provide for 24" through the whole floor)
24" joists
8" lights

TOTAL 1st floor height 13'-0"

2nd floor:
9'-0" clg
duct at section line: 20 x 12
Maximum duct on 1st floor: 32 x 20 ( provide for 20" through the whole floor)
24" joists
8" lights

TOTAL 2nd floor height: 13'-4"

Lab:
15'-0" clg
ducts at section line: 8 x 8
maximum duct in lab: 32 x 20 (provide for 20" through the lab)
32" joists
8" lights

Total lab height: 20'-0"

Thank you for your input!

Your unrated wall should go 6" above ceiling. You should break your slab at your bearing walls/foundations.

Because it's what NCARB asks for. It also makes ceiling installation easier and gives a little more acoustic buffer. Generally good practice.
