Proper Way to Draw Exterior Footing

Postby Concord55 » Tue Jan 30, 2018 1:45 pm

Could someone please explain the proper way to draw the exterior foundation with footing? Should it start level with the top of the 8" floor slab or does the exterior wall (blue) extend down to the grade line?

The interior footing I have understood to draw like the image below. Please let me know if otherwise.

Thank you!

You need to watch NCARB's video, which directly addresses this and many other issues, but they basically let it go either way. However, the last way is how you would really design it, so that the foundation acts as a pour stop for the slab, so I recommend doing it that way. I drew it this way and passed.

Both are equally correct.

With masonry walls it's typically done the other way.
