Coach/ All,

For the CDS vignette, appreciate your comments on the following:
1. Is it correct to place the slab on grade above the grade line?
2. is it correct to have the exterior bearing walls to the bottom of SOG and foundation wall below it?
3. is it correct to continue finish ceiling thru the rated wall or should it break?
4. should duct/s be exactly below the joists, touching the bottom of the joist?
5. slab on grade to break at bearing walls, correct?
6. rated wall to break at the bottom of floor slab?

Thanks for your help!

Yes.
2. is it correct to have the exterior bearing walls to the bottom of SOG and foundation wall below it?
Yes, but it doesn't matter in the context of the vignette.
3. is it correct to continue finish ceiling thru the rated wall or should it break?
It's correct to break it, but it doesn't matter in the context of the vignette.
4. should duct/s be exactly below the joists, touching the bottom of the joist?
Doesn't matter. Just don't put them in the light space or between joists.
5. slab on grade to break at bearing walls, correct?
It's correct to do so, but it doesn't matter in the context of the vignette.
6. rated wall to break at the bottom of floor slab?
No. Top of slab.

Thanks for your help!

All these answers and more are available in the NCARB vignette video. For the most part, though, they say that this stuff is okay either way.

That's what slab ON grade means.

2. is it correct to have the exterior bearing walls to the bottom of SOG and foundation wall below it?

Bearing wall to top or bottom of slab is equally correct.

3. is it correct to continue finish ceiling thru the rated wall or should it break?

Break clg at rated walls.

4. should duct/s be exactly below the joists, touching the bottom of the joist?

Anywhere between joist and light space.

5. slab on grade to break at bearing walls, correct?

Yes.

6. rated wall to break at the bottom of floor slab?

Yes.
