I wasn't quite sure I was going to pass this exam. There were a good number of questions where I simply had to pick the "best answer" even though all the options seemed to have a flaw.
What I studied:
Kaplan book - took lots of notes while reading
Kaplan practice tests
NCARB practice test
Caroline's notes - skimmed
Read AIA contracts
Read A201 with commentary - very helpful
Memorized divisions of the Masterformat
Did not have time to read Ballast
One thing that took me by surprise in the test was the ADA related questions and hazardous materials questions. I wasn't prepared for any of the hazardous materials and simply guessed on those. For ADA I just had to remember what I've been doing at work.
For the vignette, I practiced the standard NCARB one twice and looked at a lot of other's solutions and comments. I wish I had practiced a little more to be able to draw faster with the software. I had about only 5 minutes left to check my work.
