C401 question

Postby alenb » Sat Apr 23, 2016 1:34 pm

According to the standard form of agreement between architect and consultant (C401-2007), who is responsible for the coordination of work designed by the consultant?

A) architect
B) contractor
C) consultant
D) owner

My answer was architect, since architect is responsible for any types of coordination, however they claim is consultant. But why?

Pay attention to the contract they refer to, if this had referred to the owner/ architect agreement, then the architect is responsible to the owner for the coordination of the consultants work. They like to sneak those ones in there. :)

C401-2007 Section 2.4
"The Consultant shall coordinate its services with those of the Architect and other consultants in order to avoid unreasonable delay in the orderly and sequential progress of the Architect's or other consultants' services."

The tough one related to this question is Who pays and Coordinates
the Professional Service required by the GC for specific items/systems
that are already called for and agreed in the Contract (ex: sprinkler sys).
