NCARB Vignette

Postby akt311 » Thu Nov 21, 2013 9:16 pm

Please review my vignette. It looks pretty much identical to the NCARB solution but I have got a couple questions.

Are my ceiling clearances adequate and not oversized?

Above the lab, I have got 4" deck + 32" joist + 20" duck + 8" lighting = 64" total
On the right side of second floor, I have got 4" deck + 24" joist + 20" duct + 8" lighting = 56" total
On the right side of first floor, I have got 4" deck + 24" joist + 24" duct + 8" lighting = 60" total. I have considered the 24" duct as it needs to travel across the building from west (corridor) to east (lobby).

Is there a riser that connects the 32x20 duct in the corridor to the 24x20 duct in the lab? The duct drops?

Thanks!!

Hi,

Double check your joist spacing. It looks as if you have one halfway in the wall. They need to line up with how they are shown in plan view (see page 18 of study guide). Besides that I think it's good.

Here is a question maybe someone can answer? The NCARB passing solution shows the slab as a continuous slab and not as two individual slabs as shown in this solution. Are both ways acceptable? I'm assuming it may be safe to go with how NCARB shows it?

The Dorf solution shows two individual slabs. But, I would go with NCARB's continuous slab. Thanks for reviewing.
