joist location in section

once you determine the deepest joist/beam/duct, are the top of joists location the same
when you have a deeper joist in the ceiling different that the one in the cut section? correct?

so, what do you do for example, if there is a joist 32" deep w/24" duct deep in the next room under the same ceiling, and your section cut is passing through a 24" joist w/ a 12" deep duct?
don't you have to account for those in the next room at the section?
I think that one needs to have the duct plenum for a 24" and a clearance of 32" deep joist first, and then show what is in the actual section cut.

Of course.

I think that one needs to have the duct plenum for a 24" and a clearance of 32" deep joist first, and then show what is in the actual section cut.

You always show what's cut by the section but the heights are determined by the largest joist/duct combination within the areas with the same ceiling height.
